Are You Financially Stable?

Found this great info. today. It asks you questions about just how financially stable you are. While we got a lot of these things checked off, we still have a LONG way to go.

What are your thoughts?

Grocery Deals Week of April 24th

I got to go to Aldi yesterday! Happy Dance. Aldi is about 50 minutes from my home. With that being said, I don't get there too often. But daughter and I decided we needed a change of scenery and took the trip. So glad I did.

We got:

2 lbs. red grapes
2 lb. green grapes
lunch meat
chips
oranges
cheese salsa
yogurt
Milk
Buttermilk
Pudding
cereal
4 tomatos
&
Tilapia Filets

Total:$39
Should have been $37 but I got charged twice for one item. Those ladies at the register are FAST.( I didn't notice it until I got home.)

No coupons but some good deals.

I went to Harris Teeter today:

2 loaves of bread (not pictured)
1peanut butter
6 bars of soap
2 sliced cheeses
3 shredded cheeses
3 boxes of snack crackers
1 pk. tortillas
1 cheese salsa
1 bag of tortilla chips (forgot them @ Aldi yesterday)

OOP- $17.52
Before Q's- $56.09

Good deals!

I also went to the U-Pick farm today for another round of fresh strawberries. 13 lbs. They cost $1.75 a lb. to pick yourself. That is kind of expensive. I know that Harris Teeter had them on sale for $1.25 a lb. but I wanted the local ones that were sun ripened and not the ones ripened on a truck from California.

These will be made into jam. Hoping to get at least 10 jars from them.

So how was your week shopping?

Blessings!

This was the BEST deal I found. These are normally $7.97 for a 40ct. After using a $2 Q I paid a total of .71 for 1 bottle (got 3 total.) They had them @Harris Teeter in a clearance buggy. SO glad I took my binder in.

This was not medication that was about to expire. It had a 2016 and 2017 date on them. Not sure why they were on clearance but I'm not going to complain. I have been waiting for a sale to get them and got a better deal than I ever imagined!

Target Promo Deals Week of March 15th-21st 2015

I finally decided to give Target a try this week and was VERY pleased with the results. They had a special promo going for personal care items. Buy $20 worth and get back a $5 Target gift card with the in ad coupon. Using that coupon and my other coupons I was able to get FREE toilet paper and FREE paper towels. SCORE!

Here's the breakdown:

Transaction #1

3 Optic White Express Toothpaste-$11.97
4 Tena Pads-$19.96
3 Bic Razors-$9.57

Used 3 $2/1 Q's for the toothpaste
4 $2/1 Q's for the pads
3 $3/1 Q's for the razors
Then I used $5 off Target Q
And a $5 Target gift card from a previous transaction.

Total before coupons was $41.50
Total $15.01 after tax
Got back $20 in Target gift cards

(Note- The Tena pads were another deal that got me $5 gift cards for every 2 pks. I bought. They were not part of the personal care items I needed to get the $5 Target Q with.)

Used that $20 in cards to pay for this toilet paper. Also used $1/1 Q's for each pack of paper.

2nd Transaction
Used the $20 in gift cards from previous transaction to pay for the toilet paper.
FREE Toilet paper!
Got back a $5 gift card to used on next purchase. It's like making $5 off the toilet paper!

It averaged to being $1.25 per item!

I did the same transaction on another day and got the paper towels instead.

This was a fun week of shopping!

Super Doubles Day 3

I had to go to 3 stores to find the All detergent. Luckily, the stores are all within a mile or two of each other.
Before coupons & sales- $130
Final cost after coupons and sales- $38.63

70% savings

I got the Gear deodorant at Lowes Foods on closeout. On sale for $2.49. Used a $2 Q that bought the price down to .49 or .98 for both.

So out of my $80 weekly grocery budget I have spent $75.80. I was able to stock up on things that I was running low on.

I really liked the Aleve deal.

A 100ct. bottle runs $10.99.
On sale for $8.99
Had a Q for $2 that doubled
Final cost- $4.99 for 100 ct.
That is a real blessing!

(The 50 ct. bottles usually run about $6 alone.)

Happy Super Doubles!

Dutch Potato Soup (GOOD for Cold Carolina Weather!)

This is an awesome (yet time consuming) soup to make. It has a lot of prep time that goes with it.
I like it too because it uses a lot of household staples. No fancy ingredients just wholesome goodness.

 You will need the following:

1 large onion-chopped finely
1 lb. bacon- cooked/crumbled
2 tablespoons of saved bacon grease
1/2 cup flour
Enough cut and diced potatoes to make 8 cups full
1 tablespoon thyme
2 cups milk
6 cups water (will need exact amount)
Salt & Pepper to taste

Cook down the onions in the bacon grease.

This is what they will look like. Brown and tender.

Bacon fried and grease saved.

8 cups taters diced

Place the water, thyme, and taters into a large soup pot. Boil until tender when inserted with a fork.

Drain taters.

Save the water.

Reserve half of the cooked taters and mash.

Mashed taters.

Add the flour. Mix well with the taters.

Pour the reserved water into the taters/flour mixture and mix well.

Add onions.

Add bacon.

Add the other half of the taters.

Pour in the 2 cups milk and stir.

Bring to a slow boil. It will thicken slowly.

All done!

This soup is not super thick. Enough though to be able to dip corn bread into and sup up!

Add cheddar cheese on top before serving. YUMMY!

Super Doubles Day #2!

(Not shown is 3 pks. of Huggies diapers)

80% savings!

Happy Mama!

3 Excedrin
3 Smoked Sausages
3 pks. Mashed taters
3 pks. Oreos
3 toothpastes
3 Palmolive
